The search was reportedly conducted in the presence of a magistrate, targeting Flat 3A, a 3BHK unit on the third floor. Sharma and his family have been living at the property since 2019. The residents of the building shared that Siddharth and his family had not been seen since the day Zubeen died.
For the unversed, the Assam government has formed a 10-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Special DGP MP Gupta, which will investigate the singer`s death. SIT also reportedly conducted searches at chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta`s residence earlier. Notably, the raid comes a day after the Assam government banned Mahanta from hosting any function or event.
People hurl stones at the SIT and police personnel
A group of people, which had gathered outside the residence of singer Zubeen Garg`s manager, hurled stones at police vehicles, following which the security personnel baton-charged them on Thursday, officials said. The angry protestors were demanding his immediate arrest for being allegedly responsible for the singer`s death.
They also tried to break open the main entrance gate to the apartment block premises but a heavy deployment of police force prevented them. When the SIT team left the compound, the protestors hurled stones at the vehicles and prevented them from leaving and some attacked the police personnel on duty at the gate.
The police resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd so that the police vehicles could move out of the area.
