Baramati Plane Crash: Black Box Recovered as Probe into Ajit Pawar’s Death Intensifies

In a horrific aircraft crash that occurred in Baramati, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar lost his life. Following the incident, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has confirmed that the black box of the crashed aircraft has been recovered. The ministry also stated that the investigation is being carried out on a fast track.

In a post on social media, the ministry said:

“Completing a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation is our top priority.”

The ministry further informed that a three-member team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Delhi, along with another three-member team from the DGCA’s Mumbai regional office, reached the crash site on January 28. Additionally, the Director General of AAIB also arrived at the site on the same day.

According to ANI, the ministry stated:

“The investigation is progressing rapidly, and the black box of the crashed aircraft has been recovered.”

The Ministry of Civil Aviation further clarified:

“The investigation has been initiated in accordance with Rules 5 and 11 of the AAIB Rules, 2025, and the ministry is fully committed to completing the probe within the stipulated timeframe, strictly following the prescribed SOPs and guidelines.”

As per ANI, Ajit Pawar and five others lost their lives in the Baramati aircraft crash. Officials involved in the investigation have seized the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder (components of the black box) from the crash site. Meanwhile, the last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were performed at the Vidya Pratishthan ground in Baramati. A large crowd of supporters gathered outside Ahilyabai Holkar Government Medical College to pay their last respects to the mortal remains of NCP senior leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Ajit Pawar, the longest-serving (non-consecutive) Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was taken on his final journey at 9 am from the Vidya Pratishthan (Gadima) परिसर.

His body was carried in a flower-decorated hearse for the final procession, bearing his photograph and a banner reading, “Late Ajitdada Pawar Amar Rahe.”

A massive crowd assembled at the Vidya Pratishthan ground to pay tribute to Ajit Pawar, widely regarded as one of the most influential leaders in Maharashtra politics.
