Soon, Mumbai-Bengaluru Superfast Train To Be Launched; Travel Time To Reduce By 6 Hours
A new superfast train from Bengaluru via Hubli-Dharwad has been approved, confirmed the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
This announcement was made in reference to a request submitted by Union Minister and MP Prahlad Joshi on October 16, 2025.
Until now, the route was solely operated by Udyan Express, which took 23 hours. With this, superfast train, the time taken in the journey will now be reduced to 18 hours.
This train is usually crowded, and passengers often have to book tickets well in advance.
The upcoming train is likely to start and end its journey at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai, Deccan Herald report quoted Bangalore Central MP P. C. Mohan as saying.
Commuters have been demanding a superfast train between Mumbai and Bengaluru for over a decade.
Since this train ran on the Guntakal-Solapur route from Bengaluru, Prahlad Joshi requested Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to introduce another superfast train connecting Central Karnataka with Bengaluru and Mumbai. He was accompanied by MPs Basavaraj Bommai, Jagadish Shettar, and Tejasvi Surya. Responding to the request, the Railway Minister approved the Bengaluru-Mumbai Superfast train via Tumkur, Davangere, Haveri, Hubli-Dharwad, and Belgaum, and it has now been approved.
Prahlad Joshi expressed his gratitude to the Railway Minister for approving the Bengaluru-Mumbai Superfast train via Hubli-Dharwad. He said, "I had requested the Union Railway Minister for this train, which was our long-standing demand. This train will benefit millions of people and also boost trade."
