Navi Mumbai International Airport Introduces Prepaid Auto, Taxis; Over 26,000 Passenger Footfall In 5 Days

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has successfully commenced operations, recording a total of 26,021 passengers within its first five days. This includes 12,431 arrivals and 13,590 departures, reflecting robust demand and consistent booking activity since launch.

Passenger volumes peaked over the weekend, with 5,548 travellers on Saturday (December 27) and 5,614 on Sunday (December 28). During this period, NMIA managed 162 scheduled air traffic movements, comprising 81 arrivals and 81 departures.

Currently, NMIA connects to 13 major domestic destinations: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Goa (MOPA), Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangalore, Nagpur, and Vadodara. The airport anticipates expanding its network in the coming month to serve additional cities. 

As the newly-launched airport received welcoming response, authorities have introduced a new prepaid fare structure for taxis and auto-rickshaws at NMIA.

Moreover, amid rising footfall, this move comes to make travel smooth and predictable for passengers at he international airport. The aim is to prevent overcharging and give passengers a hassle-free start to their journeys.

According to a reports, the new fare structure has been finalised under the supervision of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Panvel.

As per reports, for prepaid taxis, the base fare has been fixed at Rs 20.66 per kilometre as per the report. Travellers covering up to 6 km will pay Rs 155 which includes a 25 percent incentive. Beyond this, fares have been structured in clear distance slabs: Rs 207 for 6.1–8 km, Rs 258 for 8.1–10 km, Rs 310 for 10.1–12 km and Rs 347 for 12.1–14 km which includes a 20 per cent incentive.
