Thane Traffic Update: Police Announces Road Closures Due To Kharegaon Underpass Construction - Check Alternative Routes Here

Due to the construction of an underpass in the Kharegaon area of Kalwa, on the Mumbai-Nashik highway stretch between Vadpe and Thane, the Thane Police have implemented traffic diversions. This underpass is part of an infrastructure project on the Mumbai-Nashik corridor.

According to the official notification from the Thane Police, the construction of the underpass at Kharegaon will be carried out in two phases.

As per the official circular shared on X, this traffic notification will be in effect 24 hours a day from 12 PM on December 15 to 1 AM on January 9. However, this notification will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, and vehicles providing essential services.

Which roads will be closed and what are the alternative routes?

1. All types of vehicles going towards Kharegaon via the Kharegaon underpass on the Mumbai-Nashik highway will be stopped at the Kharegaon underpass.

Alternative route: Vehicles can turn left near the Kharegaon Bund Toll Plaza and proceed to their destination via Gammon Parsik Circle.

2. All types of vehicles descending towards Kharegaon via the Kharegaon underpass on the Nashik-Mumbai highway will be stopped at the Kharegaon underpass.

Alternative route: These vehicles can turn left at Saket Cut and proceed to their destination via Saket Complex and Creek Naka.

3. All types of vehicles going towards Bhiwandi via Kharegaon using the underpass at Kharegaon Cut, as well as vehicles going towards Thane via the Kharegaon underpass, will be stopped at the Kharegaon underpass.

Alternative route: Vehicles can proceed to their destination via Kharegaon Parsik Circle, Gammon Circle, and Kharegaon Bund Toll Plaza. Similarly, vehicles going towards Thane city can proceed via Kharegaon and Kalwa Naka. Thane Police have appealed to motorists to follow traffic rules during this period and use the designated alternative routes.
