Attention Thanekars! 50% Water Supply Reduction in Thane City Until December 19

During the works being carried out by Mahanagar Gas at Kalyan Phata, a 1000 mm diameter water pipeline that carries water from Pise Dam to the Temghar Water Treatment Plant supplying water to Thane city developed faults at four to five different locations on December 11, 2025.

The repair work of the said pipeline is being undertaken on a war footing. However, the work is expected to take another four days to complete. Therefore, a 50% water cut will be implemented in Thane city till December 19, 2025.

The Water Supply Department is carrying out the repair work urgently and at a fast pace. However, as the pipeline is old and made using pre-stressed concrete technology, delays are being faced in the repair work, and it is likely to take another four days to complete. As a result, the water supply to Thane city has reduced, and a 50% water cut has been imposed across the city.

To maintain balance in water distribution across the city, water will be supplied to each area for 12 hours a day through the zoning system. Due to this, citizens will receive water supply in limited quantity and at irregular intervals. Citizens are requested to use water judiciously and cooperate with the Municipal Corporation, as appealed by the Water Supply Department.
