CBFC cuts kissing scene and mutes `guard` from Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, has received a U/A 13+ certificate and is now set for release. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved the project after recommending a few changes to the filmmakers.
Changes made in the film
According to Bollywood Hungama, the censor board insisted on two major changes before approving the picture. The first was muting the term "guard," which is said to appear in a scene where Varun Dhawan`s character attempts to pass off a slur as something else. The second involved reducing lip-lock scenes by roughly 60 percent. Additionally, the creators were required to include an anti-alcohol statement.
While some may ask why such a simple-sounding word has been muted, the film uses it to disguise a similar-sounding Hindi swear term. One such moment appeared in the film`s trailer, in which Varun`s character attempts to pass off a slur. That is why the term has been muted in the picture.
With these improvements in place, the picture obtained final approval. According to the censor certificate, the runtime is 135.45 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 45 seconds. Shashank Khaitan directed the film, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Abhinav Sharma.
The picture has already created ripples on the promotional circuit. At the trailer launch ceremony in Mumbai on September 15, a life-size cutout of Sanya Malhotra was brought on stage to humorously recognise the actor`s absence.
Meanwhile, advance bookings have been steady. According to sources, by Monday, around 9,200 tickets had been sold through large national chains. Trade experts predict 50,000 tickets sold before the release date, with an opening take of Rs 10.50-12.50 crore. Much of the film`s success will be determined by how people react during the holiday weekend.
All about Varun and Janhvi starrer
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan, is the third film in the Dulhania series. Both prior films starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
