Farah Khan reveals what she thought about Aryan Khan being called her son

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan recently made his directorial debut with the Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The show quickly became a hit and a social media sensation, with its scenes, characters, and dialogues widely discussed online. Many viewers were reminded of Farah Khan’s directorial Om Shanti Om, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, and called Aryan a worthy successor to her filmmaking style.
Farah Khan on comparisons with Aryan Khan
In her latest vlog, while talking to guest Raghav Juyal, who played a pivotal role in the series, Farah reacted to the online comparisons between Aryan and her work. She said she read comments praising Aryan’s style and calling him her “son.” Farah shared, “Mujhe Gauri ka phone aaya. She said you are not in the show at all. But sabse zyada publicity teri ho rahi hai. Ki Aryan Farah ka beta hai. Ki she is a teacher, he is a very good student. (I got a call from Gauri. She said you’re not in the show at all, but you’re getting the most publicity — that Aryan is Farah’s son, that she is the teacher, and he is a very good student).”
Raghav Juyal added that many fans celebrated the return of Farah’s unique filmmaking style, saying, “Baad mein to aise hi ho raha tha ki Farah Khan’s filmmaking is back.” Farah also admitted there is no one better than Aryan to be her worthy successor. “I never knew that Om Shanti Om is his favourite movie. He has never told me,” she said, adding that it was Gauri Khan who told her Aryan sees her as his favourite director.
Aryan Khan on series inspired by reality
Aryan Khan’s Netflix debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood brims with industry references and satire. While Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit over one scene, Aryan clarified that the series, though fictional, draws inspiration from real experiences.
Speaking to Variety, Aryan said, “We wanted to be self-deprecating, but not disrespectful anywhere. We maintained that line correctly. The guardrails were self-imposed because, when you’re part of the industry and making something about it, there’s a lot of respect. Taking a joke on yourself is the first and most important thing in comedy.”
He added, “We exaggerated certain things for the screen, but there are elements inspired by reality. It’s not a documentary. In this industry, there are many truths and many lies, often disguised as each other. That sense of mystery keeps audiences hooked — they may love it, hate it, or be intrigued, but they can’t ignore it.”
