Zubeen Garg death probe: Bandmate accuses manager Siddharth Sharma of poisoning

Zubeen Garg, a popular Assamese singer, passed away on September 19 in Singapore. Earlier reports stated that he died while scuba diving; however, his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, explained that he had a seizure while swimming at Lazarus Island, refuting suspicions of a scuba-related mishap. The Assam Police recently detained Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organiser of the North East India Festival, and Siddharth Sharma, Garg`s manager.

Bandmate makes shocking revelation

Days after his death, a band member, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, accused Siddharth and Shyamkanu of poisoning Zubeen. He also made stunning claims, claiming that he witnessed Siddharth acting suspiciously in Singapore and that the manager violently took control of the yacht, threatening the passengers.

Furthermore, Shekhar informed News18 that as Zubeen was allegedly frothing at the mouth and nose, Siddharth was heard saying, "Jabo de, jabo de" (leave him go).

The bandmate accused Siddharth of disregarding key indicators, such as frothing at the mouth, as `acid reflux` rather than seeking prompt medical attention, and witnesses believe this neglect contributed significantly to Zubeen`s death.

The witness alleged that Siddharth had told Tanmoy Phukan, who planned the private yacht party, not to arrange beverages, indicating that he would do them himself. Siddharth was also reportedly unable to provide a credible explanation for the liquor and women prepared for Zubeen before the singer fell ill.

Shekhar stated that Zubeen was an `excellent swimmer` and could not have drowned naturally, implying that the singer`s death was not accidental. He further said that Siddharth had directed him not to share any video evidence of the yacht incident with anyone.

Zubeen`s wife had accused the manager

Recently, Zubeen`s wife also stated,  "Why wasn`t he taken care of when his manager was there? We`ve lost our cultural icon. He typically sleeps throughout the day; perhaps he was taken forcibly. He was also on medication, and I don`t even know if he was given his medications. He had no heart issues and recovered quickly after his seizure. There could be many things. This was not a scuba diving-related death. The investigation is ongoing, and we all want to know what happened. I trust the legal system. The Assam chief minister is taking it seriously. I am confident we will receive justice very soon."

Zubeen was laid to rest with full state honours in Assam on Tuesday (September 23). Thousands of admirers came at the crematorium in Kamarkuchi Village, Sonapur, to pay their final respects to the artist.
