Zubeen Garg`s untimely demise left everyone in shock. The renowned singer breathed his last on September 19 in Singapore. Assam CM issues warning against AI-generated images
The CM’s warning came after an image went viral on social media showing Mahanta and Sharma smiling despite being arrested. “Some people have been seen spreading misinformation and abusing Zubeen Garg’s sudden death for political gain. Some are trying to disturb Assam with photoshopped images to defame the Assam government. These individuals are definitely not true fans of Zubeen Garg — they are somewhat criminals," Himanta Sarma said in a post on Facebook.
His remarks came after the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID) stated that strict legal action would be taken against individuals circulating fake news or AI-generated images. “Assam police is strictly monitoring social media platforms. If anyone is found spreading fake AI-generated pictures or fake news, strict legal action will be initiated against them," it said on X.

About Zubeen Garg’s death
The Ya Ali singer died under mysterious circumstances in Singapore while swimming in the sea. He had gone to the Southeast Asian nation to attend the 4th edition of the NorthEast India Festival, organised by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company. The Assam CID is currently probing Garg`s death after more than 60 FIRs were lodged across the state against Mahanta and around 10 others, including the singer`s manager Siddharth Sharma, and band members Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta.
A nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID is currently investigating Garg’s death in Singapore. The Assam government has also set up a one-man judicial commission to probe the case. So far, two bandmates, his manager Siddharth Sharma, and the event organizer have been arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody. In a startling claim, Zubeen Garg`s bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami alleged that the singer was poisoned in Singapore, which led to his death, according to official police documents.
