WATCH! Kajol loses cool at reporter who asked her to speak in Hindi

Bollywood actress Kajol has once sparked controversy online and is facing massive backlash from users. The controversy erupted after a video of the actress circulated online, wherein she is seen refusing to interact with reporters in Hindi. The incident took place during the Maharashtra State Film Awards 2025, held in Mumbai on Tuesday (August 5).

The actress, who was seen attending the event with her mother and veteran actress Tanuja, allegedly responded to media questions primarily in Marathi and English. However, a reporter requested the Maa actress to repeat her statement in Hindi. Kajol seemed to be visibly irked at the request and snapped, saying, "Abhi main Hindi mein bolu? Jisko samajhna hai woh samajh lenge. (Should I speak in Hindi now? Those who want to understand, will understand.)"

A video of the moment has rapidly gone viral on social media. As the video reached users, many netizens expressed their disappointment and called out the actress for her reaction.

One such social media user reacted saying, "Hindi se actress bani varna pata nahi kaha hoti.....ab marathi bolkar neta ban rahi hai. Disgraceful. (She became an actress because of Hindi. Now she`s speaking in Marathi and becoming a politician.)"

Another user commented, "If she feels uncomfortable and ashamed to speak in the Hindi language then she should stop working in Bollywood Hindi Movies. She should drop her double standards." A third user wrote, "Why they forget that it`s Indian cinema and Hindi films that gave her startdom and also why to become bias for one language . She should have done non hindi films , jinko samjhana aur dekhna hota film wo dekh lete." (sic)

Another comment read, "Why she is working in Hindi films, she should work in Marathi films only, if they don`t respect and hate Hindi why do and translate ur movie in Hindi."(sic)

Notably, Kajol is yet to react to the controversy. On Tuesday, the actress shared a video on her Instagram account giving a glimpse of the event. Along with the clip, she wrote, "Walking the same stage my mother once did, and on my birthday, no less .... feels like the universe reminding me where I come from… and who I carry with me always." She was last seen in Sarzameen with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
