Sunjay Kapur`s sister Mandhira reacts to Priya Kapur`s defamation allegations

The ongoing family dispute surrounding the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has escalated further after his widow Priya Kapur filed a criminal defamation case against his sister Mandhira Kapur Smith, accusing her of making false and damaging statements on social media and digital platforms. The legal complaint alleges that Mandhira’s videos, posts and podcast appearances were aimed at maligning Priya’s reputation and questioning the legitimacy of her marriage to Sunjay.

Reacting strongly to the case, Mandhira dismissed the allegations and maintained that she has spoken only the truth. Speaking exclusively, she said, “All of what I said is already on court record. How am I defaming anyone? If I’ve lied about anything, let them point it out. I can guarantee I haven’t lied.” She added that she was shocked to learn about the case through media reports before receiving any official notice. “The media got the news before I did. This is just another attempt to distract me from what is actually going on,” she remarked.

Mandhira stressed that her statements were never meant to attack Priya personally, but to protect her family’s legacy. “She cannot walk away with everything. My parents built this legacy together. My mother sits with me every day and says, ‘Get everything back. This was built by your father and me,’” she said, describing the emotional toll the dispute has taken on the family.

She also highlighted that the conflict is not just about money but about grief and loss. “My mother lost her son. The children lost their best friend. Everyone keeps talking about wealth, but there is deep pain and legacy involved here,” Mandhira shared. She clarified that no one had ever intended to exclude Priya completely. “My parents never planned to give everything to one child. That was never the intention,” she stated.

Taking a defiant stand, Mandhira hinted that she is prepared to fight back legally if required. “Should I file a defamation case too? If this is how she wants to play, we can keep playing. I have nothing to lose,” she said.

As the legal battle unfolds, the high-profile family dispute continues to draw public attention, with emotions, inheritance and legacy at the heart of the conflict.
