Rashmika Mandanna says Sikandar script was different; changed later

Actors Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s Sikandar was a huge flop at the box office. Not only did it fail to make a mark, but it also drew heavy criticism for its weak plot. Another point of backlash was the lack of chemistry between the lead pair on screen and their age gap. Months after its release, Rashmika has now reflected on her decision to sign the film. She revealed that the story narrated to her was different and was changed significantly over the course of filming.

Rashmika Mandanna reveals Sikandar was changed

During a conversation with Telugu journalist Prema, Rashmika recollected her decision to take up Sikandar. She suggested that the film eventually took a completely different route from what was described to her during the narration. “Sikandar, I remember talking to Murugadoss sir, ofcourse later what happened was very different… But when I heard the script, it was indeed quite a different script,” the Mysaa actress said.

Explaining further, Rashmika continued, “Generally that happens with films. When you listen to something, it is one story that you have listened to… but over the making of the film, things change according to the performances, according to the edits, according to the time of the release. Things change and that is very common. So that happened with Sikandar.”

Sikandar was directed by renowned Tamil director AR Murugadoss, marking his first collaboration with Salman Khan. It revolves around Sanjay `Sikandar` Rajkot (Salman Khan), who is motivated by a tragic accident to redeem his past by changing the lives of three people. He finds himself targeted by a vengeful politician.

Sikandar was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 200 crore; however, industry reports suggest that the Salman Khan-starrer earned only Rs 185 crore worldwide.

On the workfront, Rashmika Mandanna will next be seen in Cocktail 2 with Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. She will also be seen in a Telugu film, Mysaa. Reports also claim that Rashmika is all set to tie the knot with her actor boyfriend, Vijay Deverakonda, in February 2026. Nevertheless, there has been no official confirmation about the same so far.
