Neha Kakkar shares cryptic note about taking break, deletes it later

Singer Neha Kakkar is one of the most sought-after voices in the industry. Just like her songs, Neha too has often gone viral on social media for her actions. Now the Bollywood singing sensation has once again grabbed headlines after she posted and then abruptly deleted a series of deeply emotional messages. The post shared on her social media today pointed at a major life transition and allegedly a break, leaving millions of followers in confusion.

It all started when Neha shared a story on her Instagram account that read like a final goodbye to her current lifestyle. In the post, she hinted at an urgent need to disconnect from every facet of her world. “Time to take a break from Responsibilities, Relationships, Work and Everything I can think of right now. Not sure if I’ll be back or not. Thank you,” she wrote.

But fans could process what she meant, she shared a second story addressed to the media and the public. She wrote, “I request paparazzi and fans to not to film me at all. I hope you respect my privacy and let me live freely in this world. No cameras plz! I request, this is the least you all can give me for my peace.” However, the stories were deleted within minutes. Nevertheless, by then screenshots of the same had been taken by fans and shared online becoming a talking point.

Although Neha did not officially state the reason for her sudden outburst, many users online noted that the brutal reception of her latest single, Candy Shop, could be the reason. The song, released on December 15, 2025, is a collaboration with her brother Tony Kakkar. The song was met with a wave of online backlash.

Neha is the younger sister of playback singers Tony Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar. She began performing at an early age at religious events. In 2005, she participated in the second season of the singing reality show, Indian Idol.

She made her Bollywood debut as a chorus singer in the film Meerabai Not Out. She rose to prominence with the release of the dance track Second Hand Jawaani from Cocktail in 2012.

Neha then went on to belt out hits with popular party songs, including Sunny Sunny from Yaariyan and London Thumakda from the 2014 soundtrack album Queen.

She appeared in the India Forbes Celebrity 100 in 2017 and 2019. In 2020, she appeared on the list of Asia`s 100 Digital Stars by Forbes. The Garmi hitmaker is married to Punjabi musical artist Rohanpreet Singh. They got married in a Gurudwara in 2020 in New Delhi.
