Farah Khan shares Kamal Hassan was her first choice for `this role` Main Hoon Na

Farah Khan, a filmmaker, recently visited Shruti Haasan`s Mumbai home for her culinary vlog, and the chat turned into a funny walk down memory lane. Farah said that she had invited Shruti`s father, actor Kamal Haasan, to play a key role in one of her films starring Shah Rukh Khan, only to have him turn it down in his own unique style.
Farah made her directorial debut with Shah Rukh Khan`s Main Hoon Na, which co-starred Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, and Suniel Shetty. In a recent vlog, the filmmaker disclosed that she first offered Kamal Haasan the role of Raghavan Dutta, the antagonist.
Farah Khan revealed that her first choice for Main Hoon Na was Kamal Hassan. She told Shruti, "Kamal sir was my first choice for Main Hoon Na, but then Suniel Shetty played that role. I went to Chennai to his office and narrated him the script, and he politely asked me to duck off." However, Farah didn`t reveal the reason why the veteran actor turned down the project.
Further, Farah and Shruti had a candid chat on whether the actress knew how to cook. She shared that while living in the US, she would find desi food costing a bomb, so she decided to cook for herself and ever since, she has been managing her meals on her own.
All about Main Hoon Na
Main Hoon Na, which was released in 2004, was both commercially and critically successful. With a budget of Rs 25 crore, the film grossed Rs 70.40 crore globally. The plot revolves around Shah Rukh Khan`s character, Major Ram Prasad Sharma, an Indian Army officer who disguises himself as a college student in order to rescue a general`s daughter, Sanjana (Amrita Rao), while also secretly hunting for his estranged stepbrother, Lakshman. Along the way, he must stop a militant conspiracy against the Indo-Pak peace endeavour "Project Milaap," manage school life, and repair family relationships. Its appealing tunes, such as Tumse Milke and Main Hoon Na, as well as high-energy action sequences, helped it maintain its popularity. The film, produced for Rs 25 crore, grossed Rs 70.40 crore globally.
Recent projects of Kamal Hassan
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan last appeared in Thug Life, a Tamil film that reunited him with Mani Ratnam after 37 years. However, it failed to recreate the enchantment of their 1987 classic Nayakan and earned only Rs 97.25 crore globally. He will next star in S Shankar`s Indian 3, which is currently in development with a release date yet to be revealed.
