Thane: Over 30,000 Traffic Violations Detected With AI-based ITMS in 2 Months
The Thane traffic police has captured as many as 30,085 violations with the help of the AI-powered Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) in just two and a half months.
Thane’s Cadbury Junction saw signal jumping as the highest number of violations amongst all the categories at 18,165.
Between September and November 17, riding without helmets accounted for 10,611 cases, followed by 815 stop-line violations and 494 cases of triple seat riding.
The total fines imposed under the Motor Vehicles Act amounted to INR 30.8 lakhs.
The high-definition cameras, which operate round the clock and are considered the third of traffic police, issued e-challans to all the detected motorists.
Month-wise data:
In September this year, the junction recorded 16,709 violations. Meanwhile, in October, the number dropped to 9,082; November witnessed 4,294 violations.
This indicates a clear decline in motor violations since the system became operational. The ITMS was activated at the Cadbury Junction on September 1 as part of Thane traffic police’s initiative to improve discipline and curb violations.
