Shilpa Shetty announces opening of new restaurant amid IT raid at Bastian

Be it the Bastian raid or the money laundering case, Shilpa Shetty has been in the news for all the wrong reasons over the past few days. After her restaurant outlet was raided for illegally operating beyond stipulated hours, she has announced the opening of her new eatery in Mumbai. Notably, the opening is taking place at a location where Bastian was a known spot a few months back.

In the video, she said, “This is going to be worth the wait. It’s an ode to my roots and comfort food that reminds me of home. The restaurant will also have all the Bastian favourites.” In the caption, Shilpa wrote, “The doors are ready to open, the kitchen is buzzing, and Amma has officially said YES. Yes, we are ready, Shetty, go!! We’re finally opening on December 19, from 11 AM to 1 AM. Walk right in, no reservations.”

About IT raid at Bastian

A case has been registered against a high-end restaurant co-founded by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty for allegedly operating past the legal closing hours and hosting late-night parties in violation of rules, police said on Wednesday. According to the FIR, a police officer was on special patrol duty within the police station limits on December 11, and following a tip-off from an informant, he inspected the restaurant.

“Based on the complaint of a police officer, a case was registered on December 14 under relevant sections of the Karnataka Police Act at the Cubbon Park police station against the manager and staff of the establishment for violating the rules,” a senior police officer said.

Reacting to the incident, Shilpa wrote in a post, “We categorically deny the baseless and motivated allegations being circulated. The issues sought to be raised are being given a criminal colour without any lawful basis. A quashing petition has already been filed before the Hon’ble High Court and is pending adjudication (sic).”

Apart from this, the actress and her husband have also been in the news for the ongoing Rs 60-crore fraud case. As per the latest update, the Police`s Economic Offences Wing (EOW), probing the case, has invoked a cheating charge against the high-profile couple in addition to criminal breach of trust.
