Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Love and War NOT postponed to 2027

As the anticipation around Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Love and War continues to build, recent reports emerged claiming that the film is facing delays in filming and, hence, the release date has been postponed to 2027. However, sources close to the development have refuted the reports, confirming that the film is on track for its 2026 release.

A recent report in Pinkvilla claimed that a sizeable portion of the film’s shoot is still pending due to which the makers are currently reassessing and reworking the project’s schedule. The report suggested that the makers plan to complete principal photography by June 2026, after which the film is expected to move into an extensive post-production phase.

The report also stated that one of the primary reasons behind the delay is the scale of Love and War. Reportedly, the film features large-scale aerial action sequences that need substantial visual effects work. Considering Bhansali’s reputation for cinematic grandeur, precision and visual detailing, the post-production process is set to be time-intensive, leaving no scope for a 2026 release, the report suggests. 

Additionally, the report claims that scheduling considerations have also played a key role in the decision. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in another big-ticket project, Ramayana: Part One, expected for a November 2026 release. And thus, releasing Love and War in the same year would result in two major films of the actor arriving within a short span, the report stated.

According to the report, the makers want to maintain a comfortable gap between the two high-profile releases to ensure focused promotions and allow each film to receive adequate attention. The report suggests that Love and War filming is expected to wrap by mid-2026, while the post-production is expected to extend well into the latter part of the year. As a result, the report claims that Love And War is expected to eye an early 2027 release window adding that the makers are considering a January release around Republic Day or a February release around Valentine’s Day.

Love and War postponed?

However, sources close to the development of the film have not quashed the PinkVilla report. The sources shared an update on the filming of the movie while confirming a 2026 release. Hence, Love and War has not been postponed to 2027.

A source close to the film has denied reports of a 2027 release for Love and War, stating, "The film is very much set to release in 2026. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has just completed shooting a song track and the major sequences for the film have already been shot.”
