Mohit Suri recalls Aditya Chopra`s box office prediction for Saiyaara

Filmmaker Mohit Suri is currently basking in the success of his recent blockbuster, Saiyaara. The director has garnered a lot of praise as his latest film continues to make waves on the internet for all the right reasons. As the film continues to achieve new peaks of success every day, the director has now opened up about the film’s success and revealed what the producers, particularly YRF’s Aditya Chopra, had said about the film even before its release.
Mohit Suri shares Aditya Chopra`s initial reaction
During a conversation on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Season 2, Mohit Suri recalled Aditya Chopra’s initial reaction after watching a rough cut of Saiyaara. He shared, “He (Aditya Chopra) was the one who always said, no matter how much it opens with, it’s going to do 100 crores. He saw something in the film that’s very difficult for a director to see while making it every day, and that’s exactly what an experienced producer should do.”
Mohit also mentioned how Aditya Chopra’s faith in the film gave him the confidence that his film would achieve big success at the box office. He further expressed his admiration for Aditya Chopra, revealing he often revisits his work to rediscover the craft of filmmaking.
During the same conversation, the director expressed his gratitude to all the fans for the overwhelming love and support they have shown to the film, discussing how there is no set formula to make a hit film.
Saiyaara box office collection
Saiyaara, which hit the screens on July 18, 2025, has earned Rs 4.25 crore on day 15 of its theatrical run, according to trade reports. This takes its India net collection to Rs 284.75 crore. Meanwhile, its worldwide net collection has crossed the Rs 440 crore mark.
In the past 15 days, the Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer has overtaken films like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh (Rs 278 crore), the Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3 (Rs 276 crore), the Aamir Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer Dhoom 3 (Rs 271 crore), and the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra Part One (Rs 241 crore), just to name a few. Now the film is hot on the heels of the Prabhas-Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki AD 2898 AD (Rs 293 crore) and Salman Khan’s Sultan (Rs 300 crore).
