Malad Local Train Stabbing: Accused Says He Acted in Anger After Being Humiliated
In the fatal stabbing incident on a Western Railway local train near Malad station, the accused, Omkar Shinde (27), told police that he acted out of anger after feeling insulted during an argument with a fellow passenger.
The victim, Alok Kumar Singh (33), a college lecturer, was stabbed during a dispute that broke out while passengers were getting down from the train. According to the police, Shinde claimed Singh pushed him and spoke to him harshly in front of two women standing ahead of them, which he found humiliating.
During questioning, Shinde told investigators that he lost his temper in the heat of the moment and used a pair of metal tongs he was carrying in his bag for work related to imitation jewellery. He allegedly stabbed Singh without realising the seriousness of the injury.
Police said the accused has claimed he did not intend to kill Singh and believed the wound was minor. He reportedly came to know about Singh’s death only after being taken into custody.
Following the incident, Shinde fled the spot but was later arrested by the Government Railway Police. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
