The actor got his first-ever break with Aashiqui, which was directed by Bhatt sahab. Reflecting on their bond, he shares, “Whatever knowledge I have of filmmaking, it’s because of Mahesh Bhatt. During my struggling days, I did some films that would have ended my career. He then offered me Aashiqui. The best thing about him is he allows actors in writing and editing rooms. So I used to be like a piece of furniture in his life, roaming everywhere with him.”
He adds, “That man not only knows cinema, but also life. He has removed people from depression. Even today if I have any problem I go to him.”

We worked together in films and partied together too. Shah Rukh Khan, Pooja Bhatt, Raveena Tandon, Rahul Roy – we all used to go clubs for parties and we even worked together.”
He even recalls the time these actors made cameo appearance in Pehla Nasha out of pure friendship for him. “We even made a film called Pehla Nasha. That film itself is a pure example of friendship. We were all very close friends and, because of that bondeveryone came in the film together. There was a beautiful sequence in the film where I play a struggling actor who dreams of a premiere of his own film. And in that dream premiere, Shah Rukh, Aamir, Saif Ali Khan, Rahul Roy, Suresh Oberoi, Raveena, Pooja, Ashutosh Gowariker – imagine, all of them actually came in and appeared in the film as themselves to support me”, says the actor.
