Shekhar Suman reveals he didn`t want to live after his son Aayush`s death

Actor Shekhar Suman has penned a lengthy note in which he discusses his late son, Aayush Suman, and the difficult time his family experienced following his death. Shekhar shared on Instagram that he and his wife Alka "went through severe depression and despair for years."
Shekhar penned an emotional note
The actor further stated that his son, Adhyayan Suman has been a great source of strength and is the reason they are alive. Shekhar also shared an old family photo of himself, Alka, and a younger Adhyayan Suman. Shekhar and Adhyayan donned matching black suits, while Alka dressed traditionally.
Shekhar penned in a long note, "We just came out of the greatest tragedy of our lives, having lost our elder son Aayush to a rare heart ailment. Things were very difficult. Alka and I went through severe depression and despair for years. Adhyayan was and is our great source of strength. He became the reason to live."
Shekhar revealed that when Aayush passed away, he crumbled, but his wife Alka was "stronger than him." "We see Aayush in him. Addy was too small to understand the magnitude of this tragedy. Alka was stronger than me. I crumbled and did not want to live. But Alka gave me a lot of support and kept the family together, standing like the rock of Gibraltar," he concluded in his note.
Filmmaker Farah Khan responded to the post, saying, "Shekharrrrr n Alka is still the rock." A supporter commented: "It just breaks my heart, every time I think that the man who made us laugh in one of the best comedy dramas of Indian television, Dekh Bhai Dekh, was suffering from such a big personal tragedy." "In his life, Aayush had a wonderful family, Sir. "Especially a wonderful father," read one response. Someone wrote, "It`s not simple to prepare ourselves after such a horrible, heartbreaking tragedy. More power to you and your family!"
When Shekhar opened up about Aayush`s diagnosis
In an interview with ABP News last year, Shekhar discussed Aayush`s diagnosis of Endomyocardial Fibrosis (EMF). "After running tests, we discovered he had Endomyocardial Fibrosis (EMF), which is unusual. We were told he only had 8 months to live; we feared we would also die. "He lived for four years," he had stated.
"There hasn`t been a religious site I haven`t visited or a treatment I haven`t tried. There can be nothing more heartbreaking for a parent than to see their child die; the wound has only grown deeper over time," he continued. Aayush died at the age of 11 on April 3, 1995.
