Saiyami Kher distributes jerseys in schools to support Indian women`s team

Before the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup kicks off on September 30, actor and cricket enthusiast Saiyami Kher visited schools in Mumbai and Delhi, and met their different teams over the past week. The actor also handed out cricket kits and team jerseys to the students, urging them to wear them with pride as they cheer for Team India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur. “The Bleed Blue spirit shouldn’t belong only to men’s cricket. Our women’s team deserves the same roar of support,” said Kher.
For the actor, the activity of distributing team jerseys was also about encouraging young girls to pursue the sport. “Visiting the schools was not just about handing out equipment; it was about planting a seed of belief in those young girls that their dreams are valid, and their efforts matter,” said the actor, who believes that being an enthusiast of the sport has shaped her in many ways. “Cricket has taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience. But somewhere along the way, we’ve allowed the narrative to focus only on men wearing the blue jersey, forgetting that our women cricketers are equally deserving of recognition, respect, and support. When I see the incredible talent among young girls today, I feel hopeful of a future where women’s cricket stands shoulder-to-shoulder with men’s cricket in every aspect.”
