Good News, Mumbaikars! Dahisar Toll Naka To Be Shifted 2kms Ahead Before Diwali

The Dahisar toll naka, which has been a major hub of congestion, will be shifted 2 km ahead from its current location before Diwali. This move will provide a huge relief to the residents of Mira Bhayandar.

State transport minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the development in the matter following a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday, September 9.

Shinde has directed the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to send a proposal to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Once approved by the Union Ministry of Road Transport, the relocation process will begin. The shift is expected to be completed in about one to one-and-a-half months.

As per the proposed plan, the toll plaza on the north side of Mira-Bhayander will be shifted and relocated to a location near the Versova Bridge on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.

The highway connects two important cities, including Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The volume of traffic has increased rapidly over time, causing traffic jams and inconvenience to motorists at the Dahisar toll naka.

Over 1.5 million local residents of Mira-Bhayandar, Dahisar, Thane, vehicle owners, and passengers traveling towards Mumbai face delays of up to 30 to 60 minutes, along with unnecessary fuel consumption.

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik had in August written to Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, requesting the relocation of the Dahisar Toll Naka further ahead near Western Hotel, around 2 kms away from the current spot, to ease growing traffic congestion in Thane's Mira-Bhayandar.
