Bhumi Pednekar facilitates rehabilitation in HP`s flash flood-affected areas
In October 2025, Bhumi Pednekar teamed up with crowd-funding organisation Ketto India and Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF) to start a campaign for the families affected by the cloudburst-induced flash floods that devastated parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Three months on, rehabilitation work has begun in the towns of Thunag, Janjehli, and Jhaniyar in Himachal Pradesh.
A source shares that Pednekar wanted to throw her might behind the relief work soon after she visited Jammu last October and saw the devastation. “Right after her visit, Bhumi announced the crowd-funding initiative. By December, it had raised Rs 12 lakh. The actor and Ketto immediately sent the aid to the BDRF so that it could begin relief work in Himachal Pradesh from January,” said a source.
Solar lights were installed and (left) blankets distributed in the state
Over the past week, solar lights have been installed in Thunag, Janjehli, and Jhaniyar, and winter essentials have been distributed among the families. Among the next steps will be the rebuilding of the government primary school in the village of Nohanda in Kullu. The source added, “Many homes, roads, and schools are yet to be built. Bhumi is staying abreast of the rehabilitation assistance delivered by the BDRF team.”
