Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Jatayu in Ramayana, approached to voice narrator

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has an all-star cast that’s hard to rival. While Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi portray the lead roles of Lord Rama, Ravana, and Sita respectively, the two-part magnum opus has Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, Kunal Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, and more in supporting roles. Now, mid-day has learnt that Amitabh Bachchan — who has lent his voice to the character of Jatayu — has been approached to be the epic’s narrator as well.
An insider close to the production revealed, “We’re exploring the idea of having Bachchan as the sutradhar. His voice adds gravitas that no one else can match. The makers are keen that the film opens with his voice. It’s still at the discussion stage.”

This new development might clash with the veteran actor’s existing role of Jatayu, the valiant vulture who sacrificed himself attempting to rescue Sita from Ravana. Although Bachchan is said to be only voicing the character that has been created using VFX, with his eyes reportedly scanned to generate the divine bird’s eyes, using the same voice for two roles might be tricky. The insider elaborated, “While the clash is a concern, there will be ways to work it out on a creative level. Having him open the film and be the spiritual narrator will have a strong impact.”
