Amazon Launches ‘Think Big Spaces’ in Thane Schools to Boost Digital Learning
In collaboration with the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Education Department and the Pi Jam Foundation, Amazon has launched the “Amazon Think Big Spaces” initiative. The aim of this initiative is to provide sustainable and inclusive digital learning environments in government schools across Thane. The first center under this program has been inaugurated at Thane Municipal Corporation School No. 65 in Yeoor.
The inauguration event was attended by Thane Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sangle, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Director – APAC DCPD Cameron Evans, Pi Jam Foundation Founder & CEO Shoaib Dar, along with the school’s principal, teachers, and students.
The teacher-led Amazon Think Big Spaces and STEM Corners focus on hands-on, computer-based learning. More than 900 students from nine schools under the Thane Municipal Corporation will benefit from this program. The curriculum includes computational thinking and design thinking, helping students develop creativity, understand local problems, and create technology-based solutions.
Along with building digital infrastructure, the initiative also emphasizes teacher skill development. A total of 250 teachers from ICT and other subjects will receive comprehensive training in computer science and coding. Through this, the program aims to positively impact around 7,500 students.
