`8-10 rounds fired; gunshots were foreign-made`: Disha Patani`s father reacts

Disha Patani`s Bareilly residence was attacked after shots were fired at her residence in the early hours of Friday, sending waves of shock across the country. According to police, two motorbike-borne assailants fired shots at the residence around 3:30 am. "We received information about the firing at retired CO Jagdish Patani`s residence by two unidentified motorbike-borne assailants. Police teams were immediately sent to the site. An FIR has been registered at the Kotwali police station under various sections. Armed police personnel have been deployed for the protection of the family members," SSP Bareilly, Anurag Arya, said.

Now, the actress`s father, Jagdish Patani, has broken his silence and described the terrifying incident. He has also addressed speculations regarding the attack being linked to his elder daughter, Khushboo Patani`s, recent controversial statements.

Disha Patani`s father says gunshots were not indigenous

Speaking to ANI, Jagdish Patani, who is a retired police officer, said that the assailants fired 8-10 rounds at his Civil Lines home. He further claimed that the gunshots were foreign-made.

Disha`s father said, "...Two unidentified assailants fired at my residence...Police are making all possible efforts...Bareilly Police, SSP, and ADG are all working on it...The gunshots are not indigenous; they are foreign-made...I think 8-10 rounds were fired...I came to know through social media that Goldy Brar has taken its responsibility, but it is not clear yet."

Disha Patani`s father on Khushboo Patani`s statements

Addressing the ongoing speculations about the recent firing being linked to remarks made by his elder daughter, Khushboo Patani, he told ANI that her comments had been "misrepresented", clarifying that his daughter`s statement was wrongly connected to spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj.

He stated, "Khushboo was misrepresented. Her name was dragged into the matter of Premanand Ji Maharaj. We are Sanatanis, and we respect the sadhus and saints. If someone is misrepresenting her statement, it is a conspiracy to demean us."

For the unversed, Khushboo Patani had recently criticised Aniruddhacharya for his alleged remarks suggesting that women who are unmarried at 25 or older are usually promiscuous. This sparked backlash online, with Khushboo being heavily trolled. She later took to Instagram to clarify that her comments had been taken out of context and falsely circulated as being directed at Premanand Ji Maharaj.

Meanwhile, SSP Bareilly, Anurag Arya noted that five teams have been formed under SP City and SP Crime for further investigation. "We will take strict action against the involved accused. I personally met with the family and have assured them of their safety," he said.
