Saif Ali Khan wins decades-old 16.62-acre land dispute in court
In a significant legal victory for actor Saif Ali Khan and the Pataudi family, a civil court has dismissed a decades-old suit challenging the ownership of a prime land parcel in Madhya Pradesh. The ruling, delivered in favour of Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Soha Ali Khan, and other legal heirs of the erstwhile Bhopal royal family, puts an end to a long-running dispute over the 16.62-acre property in Nayapura, reaffirming the family’s rightful claim.
About the dispute
The dispute began in 1998, when Akeel Ahmed and his associates filed a case asserting ownership of the land, alleging that it had been gifted in 1936 by Nawab Hamidullah Khan, a member of the erstwhile Bhopal royal family, to their ancestors. They argued that this transaction entitled them to the property. However, the petitioners failed to present any concrete documentary proof supporting their claim in court.
In its judgment, the court noted not only the absence of valid evidence but also the significant delay in filing the case as reasons to reject the petition in its entirety.
With this decision, the Pataudi family’s claim to the 16.62-acre land stands reaffirmed, effectively ending the decades-long legal battle. The verdict has come as a major relief to Saif Ali Khan and his family, effectively bringing an end to a prolonged legal battle over the property.
About Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident
While this verdict has come as a sigh of relief to the Pataudi family, the actor has been going through a tough time. Last year, he was in the news after he was attacked by a burglar at his own residence, following which he was hospitalised for nearly 10 days. The actor suffered multiple stab wounds and a spinal injury.
Saif, months after the attack, for the first time, went on record to elaborate on the terrifying incident during an appearance on the talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, hosted by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. The actor revealed that, along with him, his younger son Jeh and their nanny were among the victims of the knife attack.
On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will next be seen in the horror thriller Haiwaan with Akshay Kumar. He has completed the shooting, and Priyadarshan also shared wrap photos along with the announcement. However, the release date has not been mentioned.
