Mumbai: BMC arranges Civic Amenities and Services for Protesters at Azad Maidan

Due to continuous rainfall, the access path at Azad Maidan had become muddy. To ensure safe and smooth movement, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has leveled the area by laying two truckloads of gravel. For proper lighting in the area, the Mumbai Fire Brigade has installed high-intensity floodlights.
To address drinking water needs, 11 water tankers have been arranged for protesters, with additional tankers on standby. Continuous sanitation is being maintained at the protest site and surrounding areas through dedicated cleaning staff deployed on-site.
A dedicated medical assistance center has been set up to provide healthcare services. Four medical teams and two ambulances are stationed at Azad Maidan around the clock. Additionally, the 108 emergency ambulance service is also available.
All “pay-and-use” and public toilets in and around the area have been made free of charge for protestors.
Within the maidan, a toilet facility with 29 seats has been made freely accessible. Along Mahatma Gandhi Road, adjacent to Azad Maidan, three mobile toilet units with 10 seats each have been placed.
Near the Metro construction site, 12 portable toilets along with extra toilet facilities are available. In total, 250 mobile toilet units, including those along Fashion Street and the surrounding footpaths, have been deployed for free public use.
Considering the monsoon conditions, mosquito control and fumigation are being carried out regularly, with two dedicated teams assigned for this task.
Local BMC officers are continuously monitoring and inspecting the protest area to ensure that all essential services are functioning properly. Additional officials, workers, and staff have been deployed from nearby offices as needed.

Importantly, the BMC has not ordered the closure of any eateries or food stalls in and around Azad Maidan, and the water supply in the area remains uninterrupted.
