Mardaani 3 trailer: Rani Mukerji leads mission to rescue missing girls

Yash Raj Films has unveiled the trailer of the much-awaited Rani Mukerji film Mardaani 3, the latest chapter of this blockbuster female-led franchise of India. Mardaani stands tall as the biggest female cop-led franchise in Hindi cinema, having garnered immense love and critical acclaim for over a decade. 

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 3 continues the franchise’s tradition of socially relevant cinema. While Mardaani exposed the grim realities of human trafficking and Mardaani 2 explored the disturbing psyche of a serial rapist who challenged the system, Mardaani 3 delves into another brutal reality of our society, strengthening the franchise’s legacy of impactful storytelling.

Now in its third instalment, Mardaani 3 sees Rani Mukerji reprise her iconic role as the fearless and uncompromising cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, who is in a race against time to rescue scores of unaccounted for missing girls of India. This time, Shivani will take on a merciless, evil, powerful woman as the antagonist in a violent and brutal fight for justice for innocent lives. The role is being played by the supremely acclaimed actor Mallika Prasad.

Janaki Bodiwala of Shaitaan fame also enters the Mardaani franchise to play in a pivotal role.

Mardaani 3 has been written by Aayush Gupta of The Railway Men fame that became a global hit from India. 

Following the unanimously loved poster drop, which received an overwhelming response, the trailer has increased the excitement for this must-watch thriller. 

Mardaani 3 release date preponed

The film, earlier slated for a February 13 release, will now hit theatres on January 30. Yash Raj Films announced the date change over the weekend, prompting questions about the sudden shift.

Mid-day has learnt that the makers had been deliberating the move for a while, considering February 13 is already crowded with Vishal Bhardwaj`s O`Romeo and Aanand L Rai`s upcoming production, Tu Yaa Main.

"Three-way clash never serves anyone. This is something that the makers had been thinking about for some time, but they wanted to weigh all the pros and cons before narrowing it down to January 30," says a source. "Both O`Romeo and Tu Yaa Main dropped their promotional assets over the weekend, marking the beginning of their campaigns. So, the Mardaani 3 team thought this was the right time to announce the new date. All three films look solid in their own right, and it`s only fair that the makers would want their films to grab maximum attention."

Mardaani 3 is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on January 30, 2026.
