Out-and-out action again

Action star Tiger Shroff is set to headline a high-concept action thriller directed by Avane Srimannaryana (2019) filmmaker Sachin Ravi, marking the latter’s Hindi film debut. Backed by producer Murad Khetani, the film is expected to go on floors in October with a 45-day schedule. It is expected to be released in 2026. Sachin Ravi, known for editing Kannada hits like Kirik Party (2016) and Ulidavaru Kandanthe (2014), has reportedly written the script. Meanwhile, Tiger is awaiting the release of his upcoming film, Baaghi 4, with Sonam Bajwa. He will then start shooting for Lag Ja Gale, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor.

Victim of ageism and stereotyping

Shefali Shah

Actor Shefali Shah recently spoke at a women`s summit on how streaming platforms have empowered women in cinema. “After 25 or 28, you are considered inconsequential,” she said during the session, Begums of Binge, alongside Bhumi Pednekar and Tanya Bami. Recalling being typecast early on, she added, “I dug my own grave when I played the mother or wife to a much older man.” She credited OTT platforms for changing her career, and said, “If someone had told me I’d be playing lead roles in my 40s, I would’ve laughed. I only wish it had come earlier, as I lost out on a lot.” Shefali returns in the third season of Delhi Crime, directed by Tanuj Chopra.

No go for Yogi

Yogi Adityanath

The makers of  Ajey, a film reportedly based on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s life have approached the Bombay High Court after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) denied it certification. PTI reports that a Bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale questioned the CBFC’s decision, stating, “If no objection was taken to the book that inspired the film and has been in the public domain for eight years, how can the film disturb public order?” The court issued a notice to the CBFC and posted the matter for hearing on Friday.  The team also said that the trailer and songs were rejected without even being viewed by the CBFC.

Neta mein ek abhineta hai

(From left) Raghav Chadha and Parineeti Chopra

Actor Parineeti Chopra and her politician-husband, Raghav Chadha, are set to charm audiences on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show. The couple brought “shaadi ke secrets” and “sansad-style sass” to the stage. When asked what’s more difficult — winning an election or his wife’s heart, Raghav quipped, “Elections are fought every five years, a wife’s heart has to be won every five minutes.” Archana Puran Singh then suggested that he should consider Bollywood, to which Raghav promptly remarked,  “Humara jo profession hai, usme bhi abhineta, har neta ke andar hota hai. Toh humare kaam mein acting bohot hai.”

No, not me!

Vijay Sethupathi

Actor Vijay Sethupathi has firmly denied allegations of sexual exploitation after a now-deleted post on X accused him of misconduct. The actor called the claims baseless and said such accusations do not affect him personally, though his family was initially upset. He believes the accusation was made for attention and has filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell. The anonymous post, shared by a user named Ramya Mohan, alleged that a young woman was exploited under the guise of film industry norms. On the work front, Vijay was last seen in Thalaivan Thalaivii alongside Nithya Menen.
