Dadar BEST Bus Accident: No technical fault in the accident-affected BEST bus, mini bus – RTO report released

A pedestrian was killed and six others injured in a collision involving a private minibus and a BEST bus at the Dadar Plaza bus stand late Sunday night.
According to preliminary findings from the Tardeo RTO, no technical faults were found in either the BEST bus or the private minibus. The accident is believed to have been caused by the reckless driving of the minibus driver, who allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm, when the BEST bus operating on Route 169 from Worli depot to Pratiksha Nagar depot was approaching the Plaza bus stand. At the same time, a speeding private minibus heading toward Shivaji Park from Dadar TT collided with the front wheel of the BEST bus.
The impact caused the BEST bus to veer sharply to the left, striking a group of passengers waiting at the bus stop. Seven people were injured in the crash. One of them, Shahabuddin (37), succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital.
In addition to the casualties, two other vehicles were damaged, and the BEST bus suffered significant damage its front wheel was broken, and the windshield shattered.
A case has been registered at Shivaji Park Police Station against the minibus driver, Sanjay Kumbhar (27), under charges of rash and negligent driving. No charges have been filed against the BEST bus driver.
An RTO team inspected both vehicles and confirmed there were no mechanical issues contributing to the accident.
