Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has said that if Ruturaj Gaikwad wants to play safe and anchor Chennai Super Kings’ innings, he should play at No. 3 and not open, to ensure that the openers get enough opportunities to pile up a big score and he can backup in case of an early wicket.
Despite Gaikwad’s lack of runs, Chennai Super Kings posted a strong 212 against Delhi Capitals, powered by an outstanding 115 off 56 deliveries from opening partner Sanju Samson.
