Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2 Movie Review, Release Live Updates

The sequel has surpassed the lifetime earnings of its 2007 predecessor in just a matter of hours. ‘Awarapan’, which ended its theatrical run with a net collection of Rs 7.76 crore, has now been comfortably outpaced by ‘Awarapan 2’ in roughly eight hours of its release.

With its impressive opening-day momentum, ‘Awarapan 2’ is also emerging as a strong contender for one of the biggest Bollywood openings of 2026. The film has opened ahead of ‘Batwara 1947’, which also arrived in cinemas on August 14.

According to Sacnilk, ‘Awarapan 2’ has already raked in over Rs 8 crore net by 4 pm on its opening day, already making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise so far. For context, the original ‘Awarapan’, which released in 2007, flopped at the box office and managed just Rs 7.76 crore across its entire run. ‘Awarapan 2’ needed only 8 hours to surpass that number.
